Study Session for senior kenshis, 3rd dan and above

Shorinji Kempo Stockholm Södra Branch invites members of the Swedish Shorinji Kempo Federation to the seventh “Veteran Study Session”, on Saturday the 10th of November in Stockholm Södra’s dojo on Östgötagatan 17 in Stockholm, starting at 10.00 am.

The purpose is that senior kenshis who have positions as instructors will get the opportunity to coach each others and to fully engage in their own development.

Pictures from the summercamp in Visby!

Some pictures from four intense days in Visby! This year’s summer camp was led by Johan and Stefan from Visby and Alex and Per from Stockholm Södra. There was much focus on intensity, kihon and randori. But we also had time for a juho and technical training. Many hours of training were mixed with dinners, paintball and grilling. Congratulations Andreas and Arvid!

During this year’s summer camp in Visby, Arvid Karlsson from Visby Shibu and Andreas Blomqvist from Skövde Shibu, passed their test graduation to 1 day Shodan, ie. black belt. Congratulations to a well-conducted test! Examiners were Alexander Tilly and Per Lindblom.

 

Soon the anual summer camp in Visby!

Now it’s finally time to book the highlight of the summer! This year’s training camp in Visby July 12 to 15 (Thu-Sun) with lots of training, exams, picnics and other fun.

The whole camp will be inspired by the vision that the Swedish Shorinji Kempo Federation adopted. This means that the training will be characterized by playfulness, intensity and much focus on how we can apply the technique for real.

Date: 12: a-15: e July 2012. Thursday-Friday 09:30 to 12:00 and 18:00 to 20:30, Saturday-Sunday 10.00-14.00.

Location: Södervärn school’s small room.

Instructors:          Per Lindblom, Daikenshi 5-dan from Stockholm South
Johan Frendin, Seikenshi 4-dan from Visby
Stefan Jonsson, Levin Seikenshi 4-dan from Visby
Alexander Tilly, Seikenshi 4-dan from Stockholm South

Fee: 800: – with lodging from Wednesday through Saturday night, without accommodation 500: -. Any additional night costs 75 :-/ night to the extent that it can be arranged.

Accommodation: In classrooms at Säveskolan, bring your sleeping bag and mattress. Will not have access to kitchen, but will supply one microwave and a refrigerator.

Travel: Call 0771-22 33 50, stating that it is a sporting trip when you get the trip at a discounted price. Tickets as soon as possible because that it is often difficult to get tickets to the island of Gotland in the summer.

For the sixth time, Stockholm Södra Shibu, hosted the much appreciated seminar for those within the Swedish Shorinji Kempo Federation with minimum 3rd dan. Senior training – for members with 3 dan and above

Since three years ago, the seniors of the Swedish Shorinji kempo Federation have gathered twice a year to focus on our own technical dvelopment. We need to get constructive feedback from other practitioners with experience. During these seminars we do a lot of basic training – kicks and punches on pads and sandbags -and use videoanalysis to find details to improve. The atmosphere is relaxed and open and we also create time to discuss ways to develop the training in our branches.

Vision 2025

During the past year, we have, within the Swedish Shorinji Kempo Federation, been working to formulate a vision for how we want to develop Shorinji Kempo in Sweden. Our core activities are intense exercise – mental, physical and technical – with the goal of becoming skilled in self-defense and with the greater purpose of being good role models in everyday life. The latter is what budo is really about. To train our characters and to discipline ourselves through regular exercise – this is our method.
